Materials technology services for evaluation of materials in production infrastructure. Reliability of materials in manufacturing facilities and infrastructure.
Corrosion resistant materials are used under a wide variety of conditions in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. The wrong material selection can lead to premature corrosion and thus to unwanted costs in the plant, as well as avoidable emissions.
Intertek's materials testing department actively supports companies with:
- Material selection for long-term use in production facilities
- Investigation of damage cases
- Assessment of systems and pipes ("Fit for Service", corrosion, “rouging")
- Corrosion management for sustainable plant operation
- Material analyses (metals, plastics, ceramics, glass)
- Training and teaching
Materials testing group provides comprehensive advice on the use of materials, analyzes damage cases, and conducts corrosion testing. This includes serving not only the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, but also production facilities of all kinds.
The corrosion testing laboratory (accredited according to ISO 17025) tests aluminum materials for stress corrosion cracking. It also analyzes other materials for their chemical compatibility.
A wide variety of testing methods are used on-site at the customer's site:
- Microscopy for surface examinations
- Metallography for microstructure analysis
- Material determination (positive material identification "PMI") for identification
