Power Fuel Mixture (Diesel and Petrol in Motor Oil)

We determine the power fuel mixture using a gas chromatograph. See Diesel content (SimDis)

Diesel Content in Used Motor Oils according to DIN 51380

The content of the diesel power fuel in used motor oils is determined by us using a gas chromatograph (CD) in a simulated distillation (SimDis).

The DIN 51380 standard applied here describes the determination of low-boiling components used motor oils. This implies a contamination with diesel/petrol. In diesel motor oils, this includes every component with a boiling point less than 331°C. However, the percentage of components boiling easily in fresh oil or un-contaminated used motor oil is not always 0%. It is often at 2–3% (see Illustration 1). If the motor oil is contaminated with diesel, this percentage increases and this shows a characteristic peak sample for diesel (see Illustration 2).
