What is environmentally-friendly petrol?
This term combines alkalised petrol which is largely free of (undoubtedly medically very hazardous) benzol, xylol, toluol and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Environmentally-friendly petrol has low-pollutant alkylate benzene. The base product of the environmentally-friendly petrol produced in small quantities is the refinery gases that are purified into extraordinarily pure fuel. So, the environmentally-friendly petrol is practically smoke and soot-free.
The burnt and unburnt gases in this petrol are therefore considerably less hazardous to the health than it is with the petrol station petrol (including Super-Plus).
The octane count is consistently 95/90 (ROZ/MOZ), so that there are no related problems with the normal small-power motors. The switch-over to alkylate benzene is harmless; normally a slight correction of the carburettor setting is necessary due to the slightly lower density (0.69 to 0.72–0.77).
While purchasing, it must be kept in mind that there is pure petrol (e.g. Motorplus) as well as a two-stroke mixture with 2% lubricant (e.g. Motormix).
The target group of alkylate benzene is primarily the range of petrol engine driven small devices such as power saws, hedge shears and brush cutters etc. Therefore, these fuel varieties can be purchased from the relevant specialist gardening machinery shop.
The fuel produced in small quantities is relatively expensive: Depending on the package size, it is over 5 CHF per litre.
