We offer independent, knowledge-based services to users and providers of chemicals and performance materials across a range of industries.
Intertek consultancy and laboratory solutions are based on a long history of practical experience in product lifecycle, and are delivered by a experienced team of global experts. Our support helps clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, food and beverage, electronic, polymers and plastics, cosmetics, and packaging industries, among others.
A bit of our history
- Our labs were part of the Central Analytical Department of the former Ciba-Geigy AG (a pharma, agro & chemical company).
- In 1996 after the merger of Sandoz & Ciba to Novartis we became part of Novartis.
- In 1996 in a spin-off of the chemical part of Novartis Ciba-Specialty Chemicals Inc. was founded and we became part of the consumer care chemicals business of Ciba.
- In 2004 our labs became part of the business unit Ciba Expert Services
- In 2009 the entire Ciba AG was bought by BASF.
- In 2010 our labs were bought by Intertek.
Intertek Switzerland Petroleum Services
The Intertek Switzerland Petroleum Services, located in Schlieren, was formerly a laboratory of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, which was acquired by Intertek in 2003.
The core business of the laboratory is analytical services of fuels like gasoline, diesel, heating fuel, jet fuel, heavy fuel oil, wood and coal. Some years ago the analysis of alternative fuels became more and more important i.e. analysis of biodiesel, ethanol and also wood pellets. Another segment is also analysis of lubricants and greases.
In Schlieren, Intertek has a team of people with high scientific level. Their strength is thus large experience in the above mentioned services and also in customer support in terms of trouble shooting and special analysis of fuels, organic solvents, special fluent like cooling liquid, break fluid and also in polymer analysis.
Intertek Switzerland Petroleum Services in Schlieren is certified under ISO 17025.
